I have wanted to make this entry for a couple months now. The fact that it has taken this long to get here (right now) just shows how busy life has become. Not making excuses, just the fact that there is so much on a day to day basis that requires our attention.
Anyway, a lot has...
Current Status
To share magical experiences with 'children of all ages' and to assist young people in achieving their dreams by empowering them to improve their own sense of self.
Since I was 7 years old it has been my 'mission' to share 'real' magic with people. This led me to study the art of magic, and for the past 29 years I have been fortunate enough to make my living almost entirely as a professional and motivational magician.
In 1990 we began implementing the "I am MAGIC" program (Motivated Aware Genuine Imaginative Confident) and in 1992 I presented the program to the Mendocino Elementary school and to this date the best footage I have of the program was filmed there.
Since that time, I have presented the program to literally thousands of kids in schools; YMCA's, for after-school activities, park & rec related camps, Boys and Girls clubs, Boy Scouts, high school graduation ceremonies, at risk centers, and for kids and teens in low income, gifted and talented programs, etc...
We recently changed the title to match the evolutionary element of the program to "M.A.G.I.C. The Motivational Program" (Mastering Attitude Generates Increased Confidence) and have created a program 'guide' so that those participating in the program have something to take with them and help to remind them of the experience and the information discussed. They also learn a magic trick, which facilitates a greater understanding of the process of how the art of magic works and relates to them and the world they live in.
Ever since the first program was presented, I have been told how wonderful this program is, what a fantastic idea it is, how great it is for the kids, etc, etc... and always it ends with "sorry we don't have the money" or "the funding just isn't available" or "your asking for too much money" or "your not asking for enough"... and the list goes on for reasons not to take advantage of what I'm offering. We have therefore decided to keep putting it out irregardless and knowing that the way is already set before us. I have always used the line "Magic Happens", with a deep respect for the process of manifestation, and knowing that I have to be an active participant in order to effectively implement and receive the outcome. There is also the element of timing, and in this case it feels that the audience has to be ready as it were, to receive the information. We feel that the time is at hand, and NOW is the time to bring the elements of this program to young people in order to assist them in becoming strong and independent citizens of this planet who will subsequently help to make this world we live in a better place for all of us.

Lovely Video
It was great to see all those kids laughing like that. I can't think of a more effective way to teach kids to believe in themselves. Your magic program should be in every school!

The footage on the video is from 1992 (Mendocino Elementary), but it could very well have been from two months ago!
I whole-heartedly agree! One step at a time...

What an incredible dream
I read your dream tonight with a sense of wonder at the ways you have sought to take the sheer bliss of magic, and spin it into something empowering for children. You clearly are a magical individual in more ways than one.
Are you ever in Los Angeles? I would love to introduce you to some new kids who I have no doubt would be over the moon to hear what you have to share.
Joseph
PS: I love Mendo!

incredible dream
Hello Joseph,
Thank you for your kind words. It would be my honor to come and share my magic with you and your LA kids.
Seems there aren't enough hours in a day (or days in a week for that matter), but I will certainly let you know if/when we are going to be in LA. Of course if you have something specific in mind I'm sure we can make it happen!
Currently I am in the process of setting the program up with some local Boys and Girls clubs, as well as for some after-school summer programming for Clark County here in Vegas. I also am performing regularly at the Planet Hollywood Restaurant (Caesar's Forum Shops) so if you happen to be in Vegas please stop in and say 'hello'!
Again, I very much appreciate your perspective and look forward to meeting you in the no-to-distant future!
Magically,

ps. we love mendo too! Spent a good deal of time there over the years. Seems like our presence is greatly needed in other places just now...
Fantastic!
What a wonderful dream this is. Thanks so much for sharing it. Having personally witnessed your virtuosic magical talents and your charismatic teaching skills I know this dream is already manifest on many levels.
So please keep us informed and updated on your progress, successes and set backs. Sharing all of it helps us all along our own journeys towards our dreams.
Thanks!

Fantastic
Shyam,
Thanks so much for your enthusiastic response!
What a great venue/tool this site is to encourage and enhance dreams and to inspire and energize the manifestation of them into reality!
I've wanted to reply to this for a while now (finally made the time to come in and DO something about it!)
Since our first meeting in Mendo all those years ago, this dream has been building; being 'edited', refined, re-written. Practice over and over.
The essence of my program is to open the psyche of all participants to the realization that we each have within us a 'magical' person who can do and be virtually anything we put our minds (and hearts) to. The place that 'catches' most of us is in the actual doing part. So many people have great ideas, but the follow through is missing. Some things take a lifetime to achieve (and some things take more than one lifetime!) The point is, to "plan your work, then work your plan" (I'm not sure whose quote that is, it may have been Norman Vincent Peale or Andrew Carnegie).
There is so much going on right now, it's truly hard to just 'keep up'. One aspect of magic as an art form, is that it takes a lot of practice to make it look really 'magical'. I hope to have my e-book out soon called "I don't do tricks, A professional magician's guide to performance magic".
I'll let you know when it becomes available.
That's all for now, today as I write it's my birthday, and I'm just so thankful to be alive!
Magically,
Star
