My Dream is to see SPELLBOUND made as a feature film

About 4 years back, I had an idea for a high-concept musical comedy that I thought would make a hilarious film. That project now has a name: SPELLBOUND.

At the time, I began writing the script with totally different characters, in a totally different setting. I wrote a couple of different treatments, and even made it throught the 1st act. But then I found out that someone else was already developing the same idea with a major studio. I was totally bummed.....

What I didn't realize is that, very often, different writers have the same idea, and studios develop that same idea concurrently. And that even if a film is being developed, doesn't mean it will ever get made. A good lesson for me, and for all other writers out there!

So a couple of months ago, my writing partner and I sat down and got serious. We have had lots of different ideas over the years, but this is certainly one of the most high concept and commercial of the bunch. It took lots of brainstorm sessions, but with the help of feedback from lots of friends, we honed in on one plot concept, and are now pounding through our first draft!

I know now that it takes many years to get a film from concept to screen, but this is our dream. I'm sure there will be lots of ups and downs, but we are determined and very excited. This script marks a bit of a departure for us, in that we are writing a comedy (which we have never done) and that we are not writing with the intent of directing ourselves. This is a big-budget, big-laughs script that we hope to sell to one of the studios. We are crossing our fingers!
