Our film was passed on by a major distributor
Well, hopes were high a couple weeks ago when a close friend agreed to pass our script on to a MAJOR distributor and financer in the family film genre. But we hit a stumbling block when one of their readers didn't respond very well to it. Because our story fits so well within the kind of movies they always make, we had high hopes that our script would be met with enthusiasm. But it didn't even make it to an executive's desk.
So far, virtually everyone who has read the script has gotten excited about it. Maybe its foolish to think everyone would continue to do so. I find myself having two different thoughts:
1) For every "yes" there are always going to be lots of "no's". Don't take it personally.
2) The script probably CAN get better, and now is the time to fix it!!
Been working on this one a long, long time. For anyone who thinks filmmaking and Hollywood is a get rich, get famous fast proposition, think again.
Its a marathon.
