I'm helping with a documentary about open source in a couple of San Francisco schools called Digital Tipping Point. It's a great project!
Current Status
Foster Open Source
As digital information technology becomes the mainstay of communications, business, interpersonal-relationships, and, essentially, everything we do, people are beginning to identify personally with the technology they use.
Apple and Windows, and even Linux to some degree, have been trying to position themselves as "the technology of choice." In all cases, especially the proprietary ones, it feels that humanity becomes limited by this positioning: "I am a very specific tool, one tool, and I depend entirely on it and its makers to make available to me whatever I could use to make my dreams come true."
Our dream is to broaden the horizon with a public service campaign project that we are calling the We Are Open Source project.
Information technology can be made accessible to everyone.

I co-organized the drupalchix track at drupalcampla in August, 2009. This was a great deal of fun, as well as very educational! We succeeded in getting people to talk about being women in the open source / drupal / web development professional world, where women make up 1.5-14% depending on...
