Partnerships are awesome

The achievement of my particular dream - to become a writer/director in Hollywood - has proven to be a real marathon. Not a sprint like I imagined (when I first moved to LA), a marathon.

I look around at some of my friends and colleagues who I went to school with, many of whom are losing steam, and I totally, utterly identify. And it makes me feel really and truly grateful and blessed to have such a great partner.

Here's what a partner does....

When you are exhausted, they give you a pep talk.

When you are confused, they help you get refocused.

When everyone says NO, and major discouragement begins seeping in, they help you stay even keel.

When you feel lazy, they push you.

But for me, most of all, my partner and our great partnership process keeps things FUN when they really aren't all that fun. When we haven't had much of any good news in quite awhile. When the only people waiting on us is US. When it would be oh so easy to give up on the dream and go get a job that makes more sense. The point of all of this is to have fun! And through all the frustrations, its still damn fun.

I would have run out of steam and given in to pessimism by now if it wasn't for my great partner.

If you don't have a partner, I hope you find someone of like mind and give it a shot. Sure you have to split profits, but in our case 1 + 1 equals alot more than 2.
